1/71 John Arthur Martinez @ Texas State Fair # 100_1562
John Arthur Martinez Albert had 'been on tour' with John Arthur to New Mexico and they were playing the last gig of the weekend at the Texas State Fair.  Of course Laurie and I were going to be there.

We were early and the guys were late.  Don't know how we kept from getting caught in the traffic they found.  But, we'd been 'lucky' on the whole trip.  There wasn't that much traffic until about 5 miles before the fair entrance.  While we had planned to use valet parking, all the lots were full, but, we ended up in a school parking lot paying just $5 and only had to walk a block!  We had time to check out all the new trucks (they were playing on the Toyota stage), get something to drink, and have a nice visit.  the only blemish on the whole trip was a completely in-ept staff at the McDonald's where we stopped for breakfast!

As the guys setup, we could see they were all tired.....but, it sure didn't show when they started playing!

There was a little girl (wish I'd gotten her name) that had seen John at another show and had learned The Armadillo Song.....an extremely fast song.  John told her he'd let her get on stage with him at the State Fair if she was there.   She was.   She did.   She not only knew all the words, but she 'belted' them out when John stepped back and let her take the last verse by herself!

We were late getting home and tired the next day, but oh so glad we'd gone!  Wish you'd been there, too.
